“The Lord has done great things for us, and we rejoiced.”

“The Lord has done great things for us, and we rejoiced.” (Psalm 126:3)

Dear Friends,

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

There is a saying, “Gratitude turns what we have into enough.” In a world often driven by endless wants and restless pursuits, gratitude shifts our focus from scarcity to abundance. It reminds us that life itself is a gift and every blessing, whether great or small, comes from the gracious hand of God.

The Psalmist beautifully captures this spirit of gratitude in Psalm 126:3: “The Lord has done great things for us, and we rejoiced.” The people of Israel sang this song as they reflected on God’s goodness—how He restored them, sustained them, and gave them hope. Their joy was not in their possessions but in the presence of God, who had journeyed with them through trials and triumphs alike.

As we enter this harvest season, we too are called to pause, reflect, and give thanks. Harvest is not only about the fruits of the earth but also about the fruits of our lives—the opportunities, relationships, and daily provisions we often take for granted. When we recognise God’s hand in these blessings, our hearts overflow with thanksgiving.

This is also a season when many of our children and young people are settling into their school and university routines. For some, this brings excitement; for others, a sense of nervousness. Yet the same God who promised Joshua His presence also assures our children: “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). Let us continue to uphold them in prayer, that they may walk with courage, wisdom, and trust in God’s guidance.

On Sunday, 28th September, we will celebrate Harvest Sunday as one family in Christ. This is a time not only to give thanks but also to share. The blessings of God are never meant to be hoarded but to be extended, especially to those in need. As a congregation, we will once again offer our Harvest gifts in support of the homeless through the Rivercourt Methodist Church Homeless Project. In doing so, we live out the Gospel call to love our neighbour, ensuring that others too may taste the goodness of God.

Let us come together with thankful hearts, rejoicing in God’s goodness, renewing our responsibility to care for His creation, and rededicating ourselves to lives of generosity and service. May this Harvest season remind us all that we are never empty-handed when we walk with the Lord—for He is our provider, our sustainer, and our joy.

May God bless you and your families abundantly.

In Christ’s love,
Revd. Prasad Vasanthakumar
Minister, London Tamil Christian Congregation
