'Tevha'

Dear friends

Greetings in Jesus’ name.

Life is a journey. The Lenten journey enriches us through contemplation about what we see, what we read, what we hear and what we reflect on, which gives us a marvellous internal strength to face all the challenges in life. Recently, a teenager told me that during this Lent she is counting down the days of Jesus’ 40 days in the wilderness, from Ash Wednesday until Palm Sunday.  She happily expressed that her every-day journey in Lent has persuaded her to have a disciplined life and to remind herself of Jesus’ love every day.

We can also ask ourselves what discipline we are observing during this Lent to remind ourselves of our connection with the Lord and to grow in our spiritual journey.

This month of March brings many special days in our worshipping life, such as Mothering Sunday, Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter, through our Church liturgy

Mothering Sunday will be in person at South Harrow Methodist Church at 4 pm. Please bring mothers and children as we appreciate the motherly love and care of our Church as our Mother. It will help us understand the mother’s care we receive in our families and from our church family too.

I would like to remind you of one Hebrew word which appears in two passages in the Old Testament. In the book of Exodus, the word “Tevha” was used for the basket prepared by Moses’ parents and it was also mentioned in the book of Genesis in the story of Noah’s Ark (Genesis 6:13, 14) which was built to save the people from the flood. This month I request you to remember and reflect on this Hebrew word ‘Tevha’ to know the protection of God shown in human Biblical history and also in our own lives, and to give thanks to God.

This month during Holy Week there will be reflections, processions, or renewal of Baptismal vows in our services. I pray that this year’s season of Lent, Easter Day and Easter will revive our inner being to understand the saving love and power of God, and to receive His blessings meaningfully in our lives.

With blessings
