I am among you as one who serves

Dear friends

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Lent marks the period of 40 days when Jesus was driven by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness before He entered into His ministry to the public. ‘Jesus in the Wilderness’ is important because it makes us reflect on His challenges and learn how He particularly applied the scriptures to overcome the Devil.

As we prepare ourselves to celebrate Easter meaningfully, we walk with the Lord and use these days to reflect together as Church family on the stories from the Gospel according to John. Lent Study in particular enables us to open our eyes to see how the miraculous signs of Jesus mentioned by John enable us to understand who Jesus was and for what purpose He was sent among humanity.

Generally, we live in a life situation full of anxieties, asking God where He is and what He is doing in this present pandemic. The scripture passages which we study enrich us to know that suffering is also part of our life in fulfilling God’s purpose in our own life journey. God’s word and the life story of Jesus inspire us to walk joyfully and not be dragged into despair by our own life problems. We are encouraged to see, through our Lent studies, that ‘life with problem’ is in every one of us, but when we have Hope and trust in Christ, then our lives will work out for the glory of God and uplift His name through us.

Jesus taught His disciples to pray ‘Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in their lives. Once Jesus said to His disciples, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent me and to complete His work.” He also said to His disciples, “I am among you as one who serves”.

We are not alone to meet all challenges in life. God is with us. May we walk truthfully and faithfully in this Lent in the midst of our perplexed life situations, trusting that the Lord is amazingly holding our hands to fulfil His will in our lives.

Stay safe and well!

Have a blessed month!

In His Service
